CLICK HERE for ticketing info 'God help us, we're doing this'Its a feeling I have come to know quite well since 2020, when you take the plunge and get the wheels in motion to produce a new show after the previous one gets covided and dies on it arse.
There's a big part of you that goes 'why oh why are you putting yourself through this again?' Answer Becasue it's what you do and you'd hate yourself even more if you didn't. So lets see if it's 3rd time lucky for 'Darkside of Docklands' we're back from April 21st, with a couple of new faces and a couple that you might have met before if you have been to any of our previous events. Like its previous incarnations 'Docklands' is an immerive theatre walking tour packed with horrible history and humour, but this time (inshallah) we will be adding a pub or 3 to our route. Tickets on sale now Click here for booking info 'What the Dickens?' Is the name our new show, but I don't know about anyone else, also the way I'm feeling right now watching the way the Covid cases have risen over the past week or so, and getting an uneasy feeling of deja-vu as we get closer to Christmas. However here at Peculiar as our events take place outside, we feel that the show must go on! But rest assured we are monitoring the situation very closely, and while it maybe that we have to reduce audience sizes, or even (God forbid!) cut out the pubs, its not stopped us in the past, and we will do our utmost to bring you a fantastic covid safe immersive theatre walking tour this 29th & 30th Dec. We very much hope you can join us CLICK HERE FOR BOOKING INFO I know its a bit belated but thank you to everyone who came participated in our Halloween tour this year, we had great time hosting you all and thank you so much to those of you who were kind enough to leave reviews, we really appreciate them
Hope to see you again next year! Well the big news here at Peculiar is that we got noticed by the good folk at Timeout London who kindly voted us number 3 on their list of Best Halloween events in London this weekend! you can see what they're saying below or click HERE for the full article.
I'm pleased to announce we've just completed our opening weekend of Hampstead halloween pub tour! As I'm sure anyone who's ever been involved in a theatre production can relate, the week before a show kicks off is always a bit of scramble, but I'm happy to say it all came together in the end. Massive thanks to everyone who came along, we very much enjoyed meeting you all. (Hopefully you had as much fun as we did!) I think we're all taking a minute to regroup right now, but very much looking forward to coming back next weekend for more Halloween fun and frolics The Old Bull and Bush is a new stop on our route this year: A pub with a long and colourful history it first opened its doors in 1721, apparently the artist William Hogarth, (Who was living in the neighbourhood at the time.) designed the gardens. However the pub really had its heyday in the early 1900's when it became the fashionable place to stop off for a drink in Hampstead after a stroll on the heath. Visited by the great and good of the day it was so popular that music hall star Florrie ford even had a hit with a song called 'Down at the old Bull and Bush' (see below) I've got to be honest its not really my cup of tea, but then the recording is over 100 years old so we'll give her the benefit of the doubt on this one, and I bet she slayed it live! Of course we wouldn't be including the pub in our Halloween festivities if it didn't have a few skeletons lurking in the closet and The Old Bull and Bush has just that - Literally! In 1987 the pub was being refurbished when a rather macabre discovery was made, some builders demolishing an interior wall found a skeleton bricked up inside surrounded by array of victorian surgical implements, possibly the remains of an illegal 1800's autopsy. The body was removed and given a proper burial but rumour hath it the victims unquiet spirit haunts the pub to this very day.... But please don't let that put you off visiting! As this really is a gem of a pub, stylish yet relaxed it boasts a great menu - we particularly like the small plates! As well as a fantastic range of drinks and cocktails, I could happily drink my way through the extensive gin menu, and I have it on good authority that they make mean espresso martini. We look forward to meeting our Halloween customers here from Oct 15th-31st But you should definitely check it out if your in the Hampstead area. |
